Pupils from Kelloholm Primary School came along to the Community Hub to help the council workers plant flowers in our new flower bed. Following the opening of the Community Hub, we have done as much as possible to refresh the area fit for it’s new purpose. The front room (which now acts as a private room or meeting room for our Project Assistant and any services booked in) had previously been used to store gym equipment. Both KKDT and DG Employability and Skills staff worked hard to repaint and refurnish the room before the Hub’s opening. Kelloholm Primary pupils had previously drawn posters to display on the windows of the Hub, and now agreed to help us spruce up the exterior. It is important that we keep the community involved with the progression of our projects, and ensure that the space continues to be used.

All Hub events will be advertised on the Kirkconnel and Kelloholm Development Trust Facebook page along with any relevant notices. We have an upcoming information event for unpaid carers which will be attended by Parent Inclusion Network, Quarriers, Carers Centre, and Capability Scotland. The aim of the information session is to ensure that carers are receiving the support they deserve and are aware of all services that are available to provide information and support.

If you would like to learn more about the Hub and what we can support you with, contact our Community Hub Project Assistant, Kelsie Littlejohn: kelsie@kkdt.org.uk or, keep updated on ‘What’s On’ by following the Kirkconnel and Kelloholm Development Trust Facebook page.
