Community Benefit Funds

Clyde Wind Farm Micro-Grant

Kirkconnel and Kelloholm Community Council are running a micro-grant scheme through Foundation Scotland with funding from Clyde Wind Farm. Local organisations and individuals can apply for up to £250. Below are some examples of how this funding can be used:

  • Education and Specialist Training
  • Participation in Competitions
  • Testing a Project
  • Providing Valuable Services (e.g., Lunch Clubs, Support Groups)
  • General Running Costs for Community Facilities or Groups

Clyde Wind Farm (Dumfries and Galloway) Community Fund

Foundation Scotland receives funding twice annually from Clyde Wind Farm which is divided amongst 12 communities in Dumfries and Galloway for them to distribute to Community Organisations and individuals. This fund has no fixed amount; however Standard Grants range from £250 to £12,000 and Large Grants are over £12,000. Deadlines fall on January and July each year.

Upper Nithsdale Community Trust Funding

Upper Nithsdale Community Trust run a funding scheme for Community Organisations through funding from The Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. Whiteside Hill Education and Training Fund

Foundation Scotland run an ongoing Education and Training Fund with funding from Whiteside Hill Wind Farm where applicants from Kirkconnel, Kelloholm or Sanquhar can apply for up to £1500.

Whiteside Hill Wind Farm Community Fund

This fund supports community projects benefiting those living in areas covered by the Community Councils of Kirkconnel and Kelloholm, and The Royal Burgh of Sanquhar. This fund has no fixed amount however Small Grants are considered to be under £500 and Standard Grants are over £500.

Scottishpower Renewables Small Grant Funding

Scottishpower Renewables hand over funding from Harehill Wind Farm to Kirkconnel and Kelloholm Community Council to distribute small grants to Community Organisations and individuals. This fund is ongoing, so applications are accepted throughout the year.
